Miriam - photo for gallery

I draw on nature for shapes and rhythms; it is a point of departure to explore line, movement, relationships, emotions. Natural and man-made objects, realistically drawn, are isolated and re-combined conceptually to create a heightened awareness, a meditative stillness. The drawings of gloves retain memories of human activity and feelings.

Working in graphite and watercolor on paper is a direct and simple technique that allows for a subtle play of line and color. These are intimate pieces, meant to be part of daily life.

The work has been exhibited extensively in the Northeast, particularly in Vermont, New York, and Boston, and is in many private and public collections.
